As 2020 subjected millions to staying at home, social media users have become more dependent on receiving quality content from influencers. Renowned for her tongue-in-cheek humour, former Vine celebrity turned Snapchat influencer, Brittany Furlan, has gained over 615K Snapchat subscribers and 348K YouTube subscribers. She was the most followed female creator on Vine during the app’s prime. Thanks to several of her videos going viral, she is recognised as a global internet sensation.
In 2015, she was named one of the most influential people on the internet in Time Magazine, alongside A-List celebrities such as Beyoncé. As an internet personality, comedian and actor, Furlan’s cheeky comedy has made appearances on Chelsea Lately and Jimmy Kimmel. She is currently the host of her own podcast series, Worst Firsts.
2. David Dobrik (@daviddobrik)
David Dobrik rose to stardom on Vine, then later transitioned to YouTube. His content consisting of vlogs and pranks has earned him a large following of 18.7M YouTube subscribers and 6.8M Snapchat subscribers. In 2020, for the second year in a row, he was named the Number 1 influencer to follow on social media by teenagers. His Snapchat content mainly focuses on his everyday antics with other internet stars.
He has made several collaborations with mainstream celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner and John Stamos. His online presence has led him to make a guest appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
3. Mike Platco (@mplatco)
Mike Platco became a Snapchat icon by experimenting with drawing and storytelling on the network. He has 213K Snapchat subscribers, where fans can enjoy his parody videos and his partnerships with brands like Disney and Major League Soccer.
Known for his ‘Snapsterpieces’, he showcases his art skills by recreating his own comedic drawings inspired by popular culture. After receiving lots of press for his recreations of Jurassic Park and Home Alone, he was nominated for Snapchatter of the Year at the 2015 Shorty Awards.
4. Emma Chamberlain (@emmachambie)
Emma Chamberlain kick-started her career on YouTube, gaining 9.7M subscribers in less than 4 years. Forming The Sister Squad with other notorious internet personalities, James Charles and The Dolan Twins, she is one of the most recognised social media influencers in the world. Dubbed as ‘the funniest person on YouTube’ by The New York Times, she won the Streamy Award for Breakout Creator in 2018.
Her content ranges from fashion to comedy and lifestyle vlogs, which has led to collaborations with luxury fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton. As a result of her internet success, she has subsequently gained 4.9M Snapchat subscribers. Her 2019 Snapchat series, Adulting with Emma Chamberlain, centred on her journey to adulthood and received positive online reviews.
5. Liza Koshy (@lizakoshysnaps)
Liza started her career on Vine, before starting her YouTube channel which has gained 17.8M subscribers. Known for her outlandish behaviour and goofy facial expressions, she has gained 6.8M Snapchat subscribers.
Liza has landed many presenting gigs, most notably hosting the live pre-show at the 2017 Golden Globes Awards and conducting celebrity interviews for Vogue at the 2018 and 2019 Met Galas. She also received an Emmy Award nomination for hosting the Nickelodeon game show, Double Dare. She ventured into acting in 2016, appearing in Boo! A Madea Halloween and Freakish.
6. King Bach (@kingbach)
Andrew Bachelor, better known as King Bach, catapulted to fame by becoming the most followed person on Vine. His success has led to 2.M YouTube subscribers and 1.8M Snapchat subscribers. His social media content revolves around sketch-comedy, leading to acting roles in House of Lies, The Walking Dead and The Mindy Project.
As a comedy star, King Bach has also featured in Bart Baker’s parody music videos, portraying celebrities such as Big Sean, Pharrell Williams and Tupac Shakur.
7. Cyrene Q (@cyreneq)
Cyrene Quiamco, better known as Cyrene Q, is a Snapchat Storyteller who produces reality art for the app. Her creation of a number of Snapchat Lenses – special effects which distort your face – has earned her the grand prize of the 2019 John Wick Snapchat Lens Competition.
Cyrene has collaborated with reputable brands such as Coca Cola, Samsung and Pixar, making her one of the most influential Snapchat personalities. She also has a YouTube channel with 5.94K subscribers, which outlines her story with Snapchat.
8. Shonduras (@shonduras)
Shaun McBride AKA Shonduras is one of Snapchat’s first influencers, with 349K subscribers. He is best known for his finger drawings, which led to receiving the Shorty Award for Best Snapchatter two years in a row.
Shonduras also has 2.6M YouTube subscribers, with his content focusing on his family adventures. Whether it’s building backyard projects or skateboarding, his videos attract millions of viewers.
9. Imaan Hammam (@imaanhammam)
Imaan is a fashion model who has gained lots of attention on social media with 1M Instagram followers. Her large fan base has also shifted to Snapchat, with 194K subscribers. She frequently posts her daily life on the app.
After being scouted at an Amsterdam train station, Imaan has walked runways around the world for brands such as Balenciaga, Prada, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen. In 2016, she won Couturesque Magazine’s Model of the Year competition. She is also a global ambassador for She’s the First, a non-profit organization.
10. Christian Collins (@weekly-chris)
Well-known across all social media platforms, Christian Collins currently has 818K Snapchat subscribers. He has worked as a musician, releasing his music videos on his YouTube videos, which have collectively amassed over 10 million views. He has also released covers of songs by artists such as Julia Michaels. His popularity has earned him 2M YouTube subscribers. Christian’s content also includes collaborations with his siblings.
