A new trend sees Britain’s universities offer Instagram influencers including model Ambar Driscoll, paid-partnerships to endorse institutions they didn’t study at. Consumers have branded it “unethical and morally wrong.” Via Vice.

2. Neymar’s new PUMA contract is the biggest individual sports sponsorship in history

Neymar’s move to end his 15-year association with Nike and link up with PUMA will see the Brazil baller rack up an eye-watering £23million-per-year – more than doubling his previous deal at Nike. The Big Cat brand recorded it’s best ever year in 2019 after posting sales of $6 billion. Via Versus.

3. Pop star Ava Max will hold an album launch party in Roblox

The trend of virtual music events continues with the pop star hosting “a first-of-its-kind immersive album launch party and virtual fan meetup” to celebrate the release of her new album Heaven & Hell. It will feature a variety of events, including a Q&A with the artist, a performance of some new songs, a merch store, and in-game quests. Via The Verge.

4. IKEA is opening a second-hand store in Sweden

The Swedish retailer will be selling refurbished furniture in the brick-and-mortar store as part of its efforts to become a fully circular business by 2030. The second-hand store, which is being piloted and will be re-evaluated regularly, will stock IKEA furniture and home furnishings that have been damaged and repaired from a nearby store. Sir David Attenborough has joined Instagram in a bid to share his environmentalist views with a larger audience. As of Thursday 6pm he has amassed over 1.4m Followers and his first video post that calls on his fans to help save the planet has over 3.6m views on IGTV. Via The Independent.

6. Burger King reveals the FIFA ploy behind decision to sponsor League Two side Stevenage

Burger King saw their chance for some unlikely exposure as they became Stevenage’s shirt sponsor in order to ensure it also appeared in the EA Sports game. They then created The Stevenage Challenge that encouraged gamers to play with the club, sign big-name players and share any success on social media in order to win rewards. Via Goal.com.
