How to add music to an instagram story 2021

Previously, users could add music to their Instagram Stories through the music Sticker available in the sticker menu. However, Instagram has now given music its own section in the selection bar.

Step One: Open Instagram Story and make your Story

The first step is to create an Instagram Story. You can take or upload an image or video, or select the “Create” option to make an interactive Instagram Story.

Step Two: Click the music button

Once you have created the base of your Story, click the music button at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Select your music

From the music menu, Instagram offers music catered “For You”, your “Saved” music and “Recently used” music. You can either select music from these options or search for your own music in the search bar. 

Step Four: Find the section of music you want

Once you have selected your music, you can select which part of the music you want playing and how you want it presented on your Story.

Step Five: Click “Done” and add to Your Story

The final step is to finalise positioning of your music tile and then add it to your story. You can add other Stickers to your story if you are using music.

How to add Music to Instagram Story from Spotify

If you want to add music to your Instagram Story without a Sticker, you can add music directly from a streaming service like Spotify.

Step One: Find your music

On your preferred streaming service, find the song you want to share to your Instagram Story—we’ll be using Spotify for this example. Click the three dots in the top right.

Step Two: Click share

Once presented with the options screen, scroll down until you see the “Share” option. Press it.

Step Three: Click Instagram

You will then be presented with various options of where to share your music choice. For this instance, click “Instagram”.

Step Four: Create your Story

Once you have your music on your Instagram Story, you can edit the appearance to look however you want. Once you are happy, share your Story to your followers.

Why can’t I add music to my Instagram Story?

You may not be able to add music to your Instagram Story as the feature is not available in some countries. If you don’t have the music button on your Instagram Story, you should still be able to share music through a streaming service.
