1. Zoom launches marketplace for paid events and new third-party app integrations
Video Conferencing app Zoom is trying to keep its lockdown success rolling with two big new features: a marketplace called OnZoom that will allow users to schedule and monetize virtual events, and new ways for business apps like Asana and Box to integrate their wares directly into your next Zoom call. 2. Homescapes and Gardenscapes ads banned as misleading by ASA
Two misleading ads for mobile games that bear little relation to the actual product have been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). In recent years, a number of mobile games have used ad videos that show puzzle game mechanics they do not use – or barely use – prompting complaints from gamers. Via BBC News.

3. Snapchat launches its “TikTok rival” Sounds on Snapchat
Snapchat have released a new music-powered feature that allows users to set their Snaps to music from a curated catalog of “millions” of licenses songs from both emerging and established artists. The music can be added to Snaps either pre or post capture, then shared without any limitations. Via TechCrunch.

4. Google plans to make YouTube a major shopping destination
YouTube is working on a new process which will enable creators to tag products in their video clips. Creators will have control over the products that are displayed and the goal is to convert YouTube’s bounty of videos into a vast catalog of items that viewers can peruse, click on and buy directly. 5. Study finds people come to TikTok to lift their spirits, “showing the real value of authenticity in marketing”
In a new U.S. study commissioned from Nielsen, 60% of TikTok users said they felt a sense of community while on TikTok, they feel energized, motivated, confident and entertained when spending time on TikTok. 3 of 4 people said that TikTok is a place where people can express themselves openly. 6. Absolut aims to address The World’s biases in new digital film
Vodka brand Absolut has launched a new digital film called ‘ISMs’, with an aim to challenge stereotypes, tackle bias and create a world with equal opportunities for all, as part of their Born Colourless campaign. Via Brand Equity.

7. Burger King CMO: “No-one wants to watch your ads unless you are at the Superbowl (or it’s Christmas)”
Speaking at the IPA’s EFF Week conference, Burger King’s global CMO, Fernando Machado urged marketers to do things that are bold and edgy and hit a nerve. “You need to trigger an emotion and stand out,” he explained. Burger King’s ads have become synonymous with risk-taking and unafraid of controversy or feeling uncomfortable. Via Marketing Week.
