Article
Here at Socially Powerful, our incredible team of account directors work tirelessly to ensure all our accounts are running smoothly.
A massive part of that, are seeding projects.
Running seeding is a difficult task, requiring impeccable organisation, interpersonable, and marketing skills. Oliver Bond, however, makes it look like a walk in the park.
We sat down with Oliver to get all his tips and tricks on making it in the world of marketing, and his experience at Socially Powerful.
When did you start working at SP?
I started working at SP in January 2024!
What is your role?
I am an Account Director with my main role being to oversee all of beauty brand based seeding projects.
What does that entail?
I am responsible for project oversight across all of our seeding projects for one of our major clients, a key player in the beauty industry, along with its many divisional teams.
What does an average week look like for you?
Lots of meetings! Lots of touchpoints with both clients and the project leads across all of our programs – due to the scale we work at there are always challenges to address and so problem-solving is a key element of the role, but the seeding process is also very technical and methodical and relies on efficient automation so it’s a very fast paced role!
Why did you choose SP/want to work for them?
A move back towards the influencer work after a year in the sports industry appealed to me, and given the nature and calibre of clients connected to the agency, it felt like an opportunity too good to pass up.
What do you like about working at SP?
Aside from the level of clientele, the agency has fostered a really strong and inclusive culture which is rare to find when working at such speed and scale. This allows the team to be adaptable and reactive to changing conditions.
What do you like about working within this industry?
The fast paced nature and dynamic working environment and the experience that comes with that.
What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned across your career so far?
To deliver the highest level of client service possible, as you never know when those relationship skills may benefit the agency if a campaign doesn’t perform or deliver to the KPI’s.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome at SP?
The complexities of the seeding process has been a really interesting yet rewarding experience, there are a lot of nuances but the granularities of influencer segmentation to inform future programs has been an eye-opener in terms of how valuable that data really is to clients in informing future marketing strategies.
How has your career path/vision changed over the years?
I’ve predominantly worked in the influencer industry my entire career. I moved to a sports marketing agency for a year to add more strings to the bow and to learn more about other elements of the industry including branded content, social media management and live events and that has helped massively.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in your role?
Learn and absorb as much as you can! Be personable and try to use that personality to build up strong client/colleague relationships as that in itself can provide huge opportunities.
Our influencer marketing agency and social agency are located worldwide, with our agency network based in the USA, UK, UAE and China.
