SP Diaries #12: Elsa Bombi, Account Executive

Account executive is a very common term in marketing. Yet, what do they actually do?

One of our fresh faces here, Elsa Bombi, has quickly become a star studded account executive. With her creative mind, quick problem solving, and dedication to her work, Elsa is a perfect example of our accounts team here at Socially Powerful.

Read on to find out everything she had to say about working at Socially Powerful, and what brought her here.

When did you start working at SP?

I started working at Socially Powerful in September 2023 as an intern and became full time in March 2024!

What is your role?

I am an Account Executive.

What does that entail?

As an account executive, it involves a lot of communication (internal and external) so sourcing and onboarding creators onto campaigns.

I also look into how accounts can make themselves relevant on social media, whether that is through influencer activations, campaign management and I even get to create content!

What does an average week look like for you?

Being an Account Executive is a dynamic, fast-paced adventure, and I absolutely love it! Every day is a new opportunity to be creative, strategic, and impactful. On a day to day basis, it includes social listening on what is trending but also being a step ahead and forecasting trends too.

Why did you choose SP/ want to work for them?

Coming straight out of university, SP provided me a huge opportunity to learn and expose myself to the working world of marketing. But not just any marketing, but one where my Gen Z input is valuable, even at entry level.

I was impressed with the endless learning opportunities as a new graduate wanting to push start her career.

What do you like about working at SP?

I really appreciate that SP encourages creative freedom and collaboration. There really is no ‘I’ in the team here as everyone works together striving for a common goal.

I also love the opportunities I’ve had whilst here; it has ignited new skills and confidence in all my work. This has allowed me to work on exciting campaigns and be in communication with loads of interesting people within the industry!

What do you like about working within this industry?

Social media is a powerful platform for storytelling and I get to be a part of a team that crafts narratives that resonate, inspire, and drive action. I also love the challenge of keeping up with the latest trends and tools- it ensures that I’m always growing and improving.

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned across your career so far?

The most valuable thing I’ve learnt so far is that confidence is all about taking risks and learning from the outcomes, not always being right.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome at SP?

I was never fond of public speaking and presenting. As a very shy and introverted person, I would always looked for roles ‘behind the scenes’. But SP stood firm in their values and empowered us to use our voices and recognise our abilities.

Through internal pitches, collaborative projects, creative sessions and many more opportunities, I have been able to be more confident!

How has your career path/vision changed over the years?

By my second year of university, I knew I wanted to enter the Marketing industry but I had very little knowledge on where to start. Joining SP was a pivot to my career, starting off as a Junior Account Executive but growing exposure to social media management and creating content.

Without SP, I wouldn’t have discovered my full potential!

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your role?

When working in a creative space remember this: The sky’s the limit so think big and wild! Don’t be afraid to speak up, it might just be the one to spark more!
