SP Diaries #9: Daniel Dietzman, Account Executive

Without it’s team of expert Account Executives, Socially Powerful would simply not function.

Our incredible team is always striving to exceed client expectations, push creative boundaries, and shoot above and beyond industry standards.

One such superstar, is Daniel Dietzman.

Let’s hear what he had to say about the role, and how he got into it.

When did you start working at SP?

I started working at SP at the end of September 2022.

What is your role?

My role at SP is account executive.

What does that entail?

My job has a bit of everything, It’s a role in which you’ll perform a variety of tasks ranging from influencer management, sourcing and outreach, to more data-driven tasks such as collection and reporting. Last but not least the creative tasks such as activation ideation and proposal creation.

What does an average week look like for you?

My average week revolves around the various projects I’m on. Some include tech industry giants and financial institutions. I am more focused on the influencer side of the agency meaning I handle sourcing, negotiating, briefing and communications with the influencers for our campaigns.

We also have weekly check-ins with the clients where we run through all the progress made give updates on the current status and talk through future campaigns and opportunities for the business.

Lastly, me and my colleague, Ben, run a weekly internal insights meeting on a Thursday in which the whole team gathers and shares any cool or interesting insights they’ve come across over the week. This helps keep all departments up to date with the recent trends in all the industries we cover and more!

Why did you choose SP/ want to work for them?

I chose SP because it allowed me to continue doing the influencer work that I enjoyed at my previous job, while also exposing me to a wider range of brands and clients which I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

What do you like about working at SP?

I enjoy working at SP because of the variety of the work, you’re always on a range of different accounts exposing you to things you’d never thought you’d do. It also means you’re never bored as there’s always a way to break up the mundane of the every day with a new and interesting task. Last but certainly not least the team at SP are incredible there’s a great company culture within the office meaning you’re never afraid to have a few jokes even while working toward a tight deadline.

What do you like about working within this industry?

Working in this industry keeps you on your toes it’s fast-paced and ever-changing meaning something that was trending a week ago could be dead and buried now. There’s always something new on the horizon to keep your interest. I also enjoy the client-facing aspect allowing you to build relationships with not only the clients but influencers and agencies too.

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned across your career so far?

The ability to be flexible and not too rigid when it comes to a plan. A valuable skill is to be able to problem solve on the fly and make changes when situations or problems arise.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome at SP?

One of our Tech clients asked for a tight deadline on 2 in-person events in Milan and one in the UK involving stunt planes at the same time. However, me and the team managed to rally and pull through a variety of challenges such as drop-outs and even flight cancellations due to weather, creating 2 events the client was ecstatic about.

How has your career path/vision changed over the years?

I originally studied computer science at University and although I enjoyed it and still do some as a hobby today I quickly realised it wasn’t what I wanted to do as work for the rest of my life. That’s where my previous talent agency work came in showing me a whole new industry for me to explore and when that unfortunately closed down, SP was there to allow me to continue my new passion and a whole lot more.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your role?

The advice I would give is to dip your feet into all aspects of the work and really try everything the role has to offer because you never know what you’ll love doing until you have.
