Metaverse Fashion: 10 Brands Killing It Right Now
Aug 07, 2024
Industry Trends
What’s the Metaverse? Fair question. The Metaverse is essentially an AI/AR world where users can experience their favourite brand’s new collections through virtual reality. It’s a way for the industry to enhance design and flexibility, reduce waste, expand customer reach and brands can even classify their items as NFT’s.
Some brands have utilised metaverse fashion so effectively that it’s estimated the Metaverse fashion industry will reach a revenue of $6.6 billion in 2026! While that remains to be seen, let’s take a look at the game-changing brands to look out for in the Metaverse:
THE TOP 10 BRANDS KILLING THE METAVERSE FASHION GAME
Nike – Swoosh Studio
We’re sure you’ve seen Nikeland in Roblox, which is one step in the right direction. If you haven’t, Nike essentially expanded the concept of AI to launch Swoosh Studio, where users are invited to digitally create their own authentic Nike AF1’s with their own unique twist. Users participated in the #YourForce1 challenge where they had to make a visual storyboard following Nike’s creative brief, with the winners being invited to make a unique 1:1 with the Nike creative team directly. This metaverse fashion campaign was a force to be reckoned with!

H&M – Looptopia
Speaking of Roblox, H&M partnered with the online company to launch their own Metaverse within the game itself! Users are able to make their own Roblox x H&M avatar, play fun games and even walk on their own runway. It’s essentially an engaged metaverse fashion community where you can do virtual try-on sessions, create your own wardrobe and then look at your own wardrobe and sigh. Well, off to H&M for the next haul!

Balenciaga x Fortnite
Balenciaga was the pioneer of the VR x physical fashion movement when it partnered with Fornite back in 2021. Among the 80 million monthly users, they could choose to don virtual Balenciaga outfits, or “skins”, for their avatars in the game and also have a custom Balenciaga Dance made for them. Getting groovy and looking groovy is what we’re used to on a Friday night, but in the AI world, Balenciaga’s metaverse fashion team is clearly making strides.
Weekday – Artifact 001
Sounds a bit alien, doesn’t it? Artifact 001 are Weekday’s digitally released glasses that look like something Hellboy would wear, but stylishly. Weekday teamed up with The Fabricant, a digital-only space where these glasses, which come in two colours, were released. There was massive hype on social media around this new Metaverse fashion campaign’s creation, which according to Alice Shulman who is the Design Lead at Weekday, takes inspiration from “stalactites and stalagmites; the mineral formations that take thousands of years to take shape.” The best news? You can buy them physically. They’re called Weekday Stellactite Sunglasses. Enjoy, Hellboy!

Gucci – Gucci Garden
$11.56M in NFT revenue in 2 weeks. Yeah, you read that right. Gucci has long established itself as a powerhouse in the physical fashion marketplace, but has also expanded to the Metaverse fashion realm teaming up with Roblox for a 2 week exclusive “Gucci Garden” creation.
This AI-powered space allowed users to buy Gucci NFT’s, where a virtual bag sold for $4,115 – higher than its physical bags! Among the shopping sprees, over 20 million users visited the Gucci Garden which led to the creation of Gucci Town, which featured games, a store and even its own Gucci cafe. Sometimes you just have to say “damn” and keep scrolling.
Louis Vuitton – Louis The Game
The French fashion powerhouse released a game to celebrate its 200th year anniversary, which was a massive landmark achievement. The game follows a protagonist and traces the history of the fashion house over two centuries. It had 30 embedded NFT’s, 10 of which were designed by Beeple, who Louis Vuitton partnered with to produce the game. Over 2 million engaged users played this game, marking Louis Vuitton’s big introduction to the Metaverse fashion world.
PRADA x Adidas
Mixing art and NFT’s has been done in theory, but game-changers Prada made a seismic shift by turning that into reality. They teamed up with Adidas Originals to create a unique 1:1 NFT collection by gathering 3000 random participants to create individual NFT tiles. They came, they slayed, they conquered.
Zach Lieberman was the genius in charge of compiling all the NFT’s together into one digital NFT marketplace, with all the pieces auctioned off and proceeds going towards Slow Factory, an NGO dedicated to fostering new education opportunities for those in need. Bravo, Prada!
Forever 21 (I wish)
Massive steps for the retail giant as it entered the Metaverse fashion universe when it became part of Decentraland’s Fashion District. It also launched its own “Forever 21 Shop City” on Roblox, where users and creatives can build, manage and style their own store. If that’s not your flavour, it also partnered with Mattel’s Barbie to launch an exclusive collection on Roblox. Full of young ideas, right? Well, it’s Forever 21, so it makes sense why it’s dominating the Metaverse fashion world.

Coach – Find Your Courage
Coach, the renowned and successful fashion company, has launched its first collection called “Find Your Courage” on Roblox and Zepeto. This latest innovation in Metaverse fashion allows users to completely reinvent themselves through avatars and customise them in full Coach gear. The story follows Imma, a character who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, with Gen Z users especially identifying with this notion of self-acceptance and transformative empowerment. Go Coach!
@coach Exploring new possibilities can be daunting, but when you find your courage, anything is possible. Find your courage. This season, travel through virtual worlds with @imma as she discovers the #CourageToBeReal (with a little help from the Coach Family). Director: Vallée Duhamel #CoachNY #Koki
Burberry x Blankos Block Party
B x BBP, that’s a cold abbreviation. First, we were given Sharky B, who we could customise and give serious drip to, as well as sell on the BBP marketplace. Not only that, users could make the NFT more agile and speedy, increasing its rarity. Then, we were given Minny B because Sharky B did incredibly well, and to top it off… a line of NFT accessories. With Metaverse fashion and Burberry, it’s always Christmas!
So it’s clear, fashion brands in the metaverse are absolutely killing it, especially these 10! Don’t sleep on these NFT’s, especially if you want to have a chance of obtaining some rare and beautiful pieces.
