Influencer Sessions

We caught up with fashion influencer and stylist, @iam_amaro, to talk all things Instagram, inspiration, and inclusivity. Read on to discover more about this creator leading Gen Z fashion on social media.
Where does your love for fashion and styling come from?
My passion for fashion and styling comes from my family—they are my biggest support system. Growing up in a multicultural environment, I was always surrounded by different styles, cultures, and artistic influences. Fashion became my way of expressing myself and blending these inspirations into my own unique vision.
How has the increase in fashion influencers online impacted the content you post? If at all?
The rise of fashion influencers has pushed me to refine my content and stay ahead of trends while remaining authentic. It has also shown me the importance of storytelling in fashion—people don’t just want to see outfits, they want to connect with a lifestyle and a personality.
Which platforms do you predominantly use? Which do you prefer for posting, and which for community building?
I mainly use Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. Instagram is my favorite for posting curated fashion content, while TikTok allows me to be more spontaneous and experimental. Snapchat helps me connect with my community on a more personal level. Engagement differs on each platform—Instagram is more structured with likes, comments, and DMs, TikTok is trend-driven and organic, and Snapchat enables real-time private interactions.

What is your favourite type of content to create, and which works best for your audience? Is there a juxtaposition?
I love creating editorial-style fashion content with a mix of streetwear and luxury influences. My audience enjoys both high-fashion looks and more casual styling tips. Sometimes there’s a contrast—what I love to create isn’t always what performs best in terms of engagement, but I try to balance both.
In your own words and experience, how would you define “influencer marketing”?
To me, influencer marketing is about creating a bridge between brands and audiences through authenticity. It’s not just about promoting a product but integrating it naturally into a lifestyle that resonates with followers. People trust real individuals more than traditional advertisements, which is why influencer marketing is so powerful today—it creates a personal connection, making brands more relatable and aspirational.
Do you have experience working with brands? How do you decide which brands you would like to work with?
I have experience working with several brands and choose collaborations based on alignment with my aesthetic, values, and audience interests. Authenticity is key—I only work with brands I genuinely believe in.
How do you foresee the influencer marketing space changing within your niche in the next 12 months?
I see fashion influencer marketing becoming more niche-focused in the next 12 months, with brands prioritizing personalization and storytelling over just follower counts.
Based on your experience, what would you advocate to change about the fashion industry?
In the fashion industry, I’d love to see more inclusivity—not just in diversity but also in opportunities for independent creators and designers. The industry should be more open to fresh, unique voices.

How do you balance your online and offline lives?
Balancing my online and offline life is essential. I set boundaries by dedicating time to family, friends, and personal projects outside of social media. Traveling also helps me reset and find new inspiration.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In five years, I see myself as an independent entrepreneur, working globally as a stylist, content creator, and possibly even a fashion translator for major fashion houses. I also want to continue evolving as an artist and traveling the world.
What is a piece of advice you would give to your younger self when starting out in fashion content creation?
If I could give advice to my younger self when starting out in fashion content creation, it would be: Trust yourself and stay consistent. Trends come and go, but authenticity is what makes people connect with you. Also, don’t be afraid to take risks—just do it before it’s too late!
