Last year’s desire for blurred skin still had potential to be pushed one step further and in 2025, it’s finally being taken all the way. Gone are the days where glam elements were reserved only for a full face of makeup. In 2025, we’ll begin to see the same colourful eyeshadow, highlighted high points, and bold lips paired beautifully with a bare face. Going hand-in-hand with Gen Z’s desires to slow the aging process, the body and scalp are the next areas to tackle on their mission to “Benjamin Button” themselves. We began to see a steady increase in body and scalp-driven products at the tail end of 2024 (mostly from Fenty Skin), but 2025 is the year we really start to see them take their place on the shelves next to the most popular makeup products.

90s nostalgia will be a huge selling point for the beauty industry in summer of 2025. Over in fashion, we’re already starting to see the resurgence of capri pants and big hair, all we need now is smudged eyeliner, an iconic lip combo, and slightly-too-light blush covering the entire surface area of the cheek, to complete the look. Clean colour

We promise the revival of 2016 glam is imminent. Its eye looks, however, will be reimagined. 

Rather than neutral-toned halo eyes and cut creases packed with chunky glitter that us older Gen Z’ers and Millennials are all too familiar with, monochromatic washes of colour are now taking centre stage. Yes, there is still an option to glide a subtle wet-look shimmer over the entirety of the lid, but the summer beauty trends this year are focused on colour only.  

Long gone are the days when eyeshadow looks would take 2 hours minimum to complete. The 2025 beauty industry is all about welcoming matte, monochrome, and mastery.

Summer beauty trends will see the implementation of cushion products, namely for complexion for now, step to the front. We’ve already seen their popularity and success in the East, actually originating in South Korea, and now it’s time to replicate it in the West. 2025 summer beauty trends are all about individualisation, encouraging people to embrace their natural features in a bid to showcase a new, more authentic identity. This isn’t to say popular dermal fillers and non-invasive treatments are out, but will instead be done under a new guise and paired with a refreshed image, for a lot of people.

You want your hair to look “lived-in”

Remember us predicting that 90s nostalgia will take over the summer beauty trends of 2025, a few points back? Not only will it be infused throughout makeup campaigns and product launches, but also in how we choose to style, cut, and colour our hair. 

Simply put, long layers are back in. Bobs, lobs (long bobs), and Birkin bangs are also making a comeback, all quintessentially-90s coded.

Blurred lips are decorating runways

Alongside the 90s lip we mentioned earlier, and the revival of glossy Y2K combos, blurred lips are lined up to take over this summer. Typically created using lip stains and blushes, blurred, undefined lips are all the rage on runways this year, providing just a wash of colour and steering away from the bold, opaque looks we’re used to seeing.

Yet another trend originating in the East (yes, this list of summer beauty trends is essentially just letting you know that what was popularised by East Asian countries, is now making its debut in the West), blurred lips are becoming the go-to look for many. The release of lip stains and blurring-effect liners, such as REFY’s, are only encouraging this trend, so expect to see a whole lot more on your feeds very soon.
