Duo The Owl, we know it, we love it, we support it. Apparently, so did the rest of TikTok! The owl is known for waking you up at 3am to remind you that you’re incompetent at Spanish, so the brand leaned into that and started making memes and comedic videos that played on the idea of the owl hunting you down if you didn’t complete lessons or missed tasks. The younger audience fell for the persuasive TikTok marketing campaigns, started following the brand and boom! Instant popularity.

GoPro
Surely you’ve seen the daring Red Bull jumps and the ski slope near misses, right? What were they filmed on? You guessed it, a GoPro! Originally the brand leveraged its popularity on YouTube where it essentially obliterated the GoPro to show it can withstand all climates and terrains via UGC content, and since this worked… it thought, why not emulate this in TikTok marketing campaigns? Well, they did, and it gained millions of views in a short amount of time. The benefit of basically reposting UGC content? Less money on influencers, more organic community appeal.

Through short form, educational and informative content, GymShark leveraged the “Gym Bro” culture and made it massive. Hey, don’t skim over this. Weird how that just got your attention, and so did the viral Skims dresses that the Kardashian-Jenner empire championed. This is because of its aggressive TikTok marketing campaigns, that literally shoved their dresses onto our screens via creative UGC creation, and led us to believe we needed them. Its campaign gained considerable traction because the brand used creators of all colours, shapes and sizes to keep inclusivity at the forefront. What did you think of it?

Oh, the famous Walmart. It’s an interesting one. This list even surprises us, believe it or not. Well, Chipotle’s TikTok marketing campaigns have actually been very smart and leveraged product-led content which in turn increases UGC from creators wanting to try the products. Who doesn’t love free food? Chipotle even created the Guac Dance, similar to how e.l.f.. The brand also worked with mega influencers such as David Dobrik to launch the #ChipotleLidFlip, which is pretty awesome! All that’s left now is to see if there’s a Chipotle x e.l.f. dance collab on the horizon…

Netflix deserves all the respect and mainly because of the #WhatsYourPower campaign which aimed to promote the movie Project Power. Netflix encouraged audiences to share what their superpower would be if they had one through using the filter, which became probably the biggest use of UGC content ever with over 112K uses.
