We have been a retained agency for TikTok since 2018, this case study focuses on the launch of TikTok globally and how Socially Powerful helped TikTok achieve notoriety, drive user acquisition and become a household name. When we started working with TikTok, nobody knew the platform in Western Markets, the user-base was minimal, the awareness of TikTok was incredibly low, but they had big ambitions and they needed a social marketing agency that could deliver the results they needed.

Challenge

Transforming TikTok into a Premier Entertainment Hub.

Increase the appeal of TikTok to an older demographic, aged 22 -34, in key territories and drive downloads by positioning the app as a one-stop entertainment hub. The problem was, at this point, nobody knew what TikTok was, what it stood for and what it could offer.

We know that millennials are the most receptive demographic to influencer marketing, being 54% percent more likely to utilise a service promoted by Influencers. We knew that premium social publishers have authority in the space TikTok want to play in. They offer brands a trusted platform in which they can connect with specialised audiences in the right place and at the right time.

Transforming TikTok: A 12-Month Triumph through Tailored Strategies, Influencer Prowess, and Amplified Engagement.

We executed a comprehensive 12-month marketing strategy to enhance TikTok's presence, employing three key approaches that focused on awareness, conversion and retention: Each plan was tailored made to achieve the campaign objectives, and performance was actively optimised towards KPIs once the campaigns were live.

Firstly, we engaged in content seeding, strategically identifying and sharing trending TikTok content across publisher channels and targeted social media communities where we knew our target audience was. We were tasked with amplifying everything from in-app hashtag challenges, celebrity partnerships, viral content to International Women's Day and other initiatives.

We'd repurpose the best performing TikTok's each week and seed these across our partner channels on Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. We knew that premium publishers have authority in the space TikTok want to play in. They offer brands a trusted platform in which they can connect with hyper-targeted audiences in the right place and at the right time.

To amplify our efforts, we harnessed the power of influencer marketing, where we built a creator partnership programme to get the biggest influencer names and celebrities to TikTok, whilst also empowering smaller creators to be early adopters to the platform. We educated influencers on best practices for TikTok, guiding them to create captivating and shareable content on TikTok, that we would boost to the masses. The influencers would then distribute their TikTok's on their current social platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat, driving their audiences to join, engaged and explore the TikTok platform.

The content generated from influencer partnerships was seamlessly integrated into paid media campaigns. Repurposing influencer content and viral TikTok content for targeted social media ads significantly extended the reach and impact of our messaging.
